The consultation on the first Forestry Strategy in Scotland since 2006 runs until 29th November and the event is an excellent opportunity to engage with Cabinet Secretary for Rural Economy Fergus Ewing MSP on what it might mean for you.
It sets out "a 10-year framework for action to achieve a 50-year vision for Scotland’s woodlands and forests" - and an ambition to increase woodland cover from around 18 to 21 per cent of the land area of Scotland by 2032.
The emphasis is on a sustainable forestry future which delivers greater economic, environmental and social benefits. This includes helping to meet Scotland's world-leading climate change target and working with other land uses to create a sustainable future for all our rural areas after Brexit.
Fergus Ewing MSP will be joined by Confor CEO Stuart Goodall, John Mitchell from Anderson Strathern, with a final speaker to be confirmed. The seminar takes place at Anderson Strathern's office at Rutland Court, Edinburgh, with registration from 8.15am and a 10am finish.
