Introduction to Forestry for Military Personnel

Ever thought about working in the woods? Forestry is a great career choice offering a wide range of roles that can utilise your current skills.

Confor is hosting a free three-day event to give military personnel an insight into the forestry and wood sector.

What you'll be doing (details subject to change)

Wednesday 18 March

Visit to Natural Resources Wales (public estate) - managed woodland to explore forest management in practice.
Active harvesting site visit to see modern forestry machinery and harvesting operations in action.
Discussion on sustainable forest management, timber production, and operational decision-making.

Thursday 19 March

Visit to a forest nursery, including a short indoor introduction followed by a guided tour of seedling production and nursery operations.
Visit to a local timber mill to follow the journey from standing timber through to processed wood products.

Friday 20 March

Indoor session featuring presentations on forestry career pathways and industry insights from a range of speakers.
Networking lunch with local foresters and industry representatives.

Applicants must be current or former UK Armed Forces and hold a full UK driving license.
