Working at Forestry and Land Scotland is all about ‘People, Pride and Purpose.’ Join us and take pride in supporting the economy, protecting and enhancing the environment by managing Scotland's National forests and land.

The Nursery Manager (Field) is responsible for the quality and quantity of bare-root trees produced from our nursery. Working closely with the Nursery Manager (Glasshouse) and the Team Leaders, you will guide a flexible team of Nursery Operatives to complete our annual work cycle, including the transplanting and husbandry of up to 15 million bare-root tree seedlings, the grading and dispatch of those bare-root trees after they’ve been lifted from the field, and the effective land management required to maintain a healthy and productive bare-root nursery.

FLS Plant and Seed Supply is a dedicated team of 30 people responsible for growing or sourcing the 25 million trees per year required for the forests and land managed by FLS. We do this from the only publicly owned tree nursery in Scotland, Newton Nursery, near Elgin, which is currently being redeveloped with a 12,000sqm glasshouse.
